ICAFMC Welcomes You

ICAFMC is the International Joint Conference on Materials, the main international gathering of researchers in Materials. The International Conference on Advanced Functional Materials and Composites will be held in Barcelona,Spain in Sept. 2018.

Barcelona is the capital city of the autonomous community of Catalonia in the Kingdom of Spain, as well as the country's second most populous municipality, with a population of 1.6 million within city limits. Its urban area extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of around 4.7 million people, being the sixth-most populous urban area in the European Union after Paris, London, Madrid, the Ruhr area and Milan.

It is one of the world's leading tourist, economic, trade fair and cultural centres, and its influence in commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world's major global cities. It is a major cultural and economic centre in southwestern Europe, 24th in the world (before Zürich, after Frankfurt) and a financial centre.

Attractive sight-seeing spots:

Sagrada Familia
A Giant Basilica designed by the master architect Antonio Gaudí. This building has been under construction since 1882 and they've still got another 30 to 80 years (depending on funding and resources) to go before it will be finished. Just imagine the dedication, devotion and commitment involved in creating a building for that length of time.
Some people love the Sagrada Familia and some people hate it but whatever you think we guarantee it will cause a reaction one way or the other.

The Magic Fountain of Montjuďc
One attraction which is popular and in my opinion a "must" visit is "The Magic Fountain of Montjuďc". This is a light, music and water extravaganza that just can't be missed.
Performances are nightly but times vary depending on the time of year.

La Pedrera
Another one of Antonio Gaudí's creations once again hits the top 10 most visited attractions in Barcelona. This building used to be called Casa Mila but nowadays it's more commonly known as La Pedrera which means "quarry". Gaudí was instrumental in completing this building and his characteristic wavy brick work and colourful tiles are also evident on this masterpiece.
